He was born in the south (Knoxville, Tennesee), raised in the west (Liberia West Africa) moved to the east (DMV), now he's headed upwards (Heaven). This explains greatly why Varney Taylor affectionately known as V. aka PastorV has such a wide range of diversity in his delivery musically. Born to the union of Rev. Dr. Jonathan C. Taylor and Rev. Lorince A. Taylor(090877) is clearly why this young man has had such a strong call of the Lord upon his life. In the early eighties when hip-hop was beginning to emerge as a genre to be reckoned with, many young people across the globe began to fall in love with it including V. He recalls " many days we would listen to LL Cool J, Kool Mo Dee, Big Daddy Kane, Doug E Fresh, Slick Rick and Run DMC to name a few, and write their lyrics and battle in the hallways in our elementary school." With no thought of ever having to leave beautiful Liberia one day his world flipped inside out. A brutal civil war that would last 14 plus years erupted in 1989 which would force him and his entire family to leave West Africa and repatriate to the east coast of the United States (Washington D.C., Maryland, Virginia area). During his early years in the U.S. like any adolescent coming out of a post war scenario this young man was faced with varying levels of stress. The pressure of trying to maintain his Christian roots at the same time fit in to a society of young people who were greatly influenced by the era of gangster rap and the culture it presented made things difficult for his parents and those he loved to understand his struggle. Without a doubt the pressure took its toll when he began to live out what he listened to in the music he so dearly loved. During his teen and young adult years there were many near death experiences, constant run ins with the law, and an immense level of rebellion all while he would adapt his reality to his own lyrics and beats hence never dropping his passion for the music. He performed in night clubs across the east coast and abroad with hopes to make the ever so chased lime light. Until late 2005- 2006 a major series of unfortunate events made him realize the Lord's hand had always been upon his life, he vowed to leave the street life and commit to the things of Jesus his saving Lord. Now on fire for Jesus he has since been actively involved and committed to reaching out to this generation of young people thru the music, primarily rap. As one of the founding members of the Christian based rap group THE G-B.O.Y.S (THE GOSPEL BRINGS OPPRESSED YOUTH SALVATION) based in the Washington D.C. Metro Area, PastorV a seasoned lyricist and producer is on a mission with the great commission to see that the LORD'S will be done through his God given gifts and talents. A recent graduate of Oral Roberts university, he's also a devoted husband to his lovely wife Nicole, father to his six boys, and a diligent servant in his ministry to the Lord. He has dropped several albums and featured on quite a few others and is on his way to being a global success by the "Grace of God"....Stay Tuned
